Understanding Listing Numbers with Prefixes (NDP, PTP, etc.)

  1. Check the beginning of the listing number.
Some listings start with letters or a mix of letters, dashes and numbers. These prefixes indicate the MLS or board where the listing originated.

  2. If the listing starts with “NDP,”
It means the listing comes from CRMLS and originated from the North San Diego County Association of REALTORS®.

  3. If the listing starts with “PTP,”
It means the listing comes from CRMLS and originated from the Pacific Southwest Association of REALTORS®.

  4. Understand why you can see these listings.
These listings appear in your SDMLS system because of the MLS data share agreement, which allows participating MLSs to exchange and display each other’s listing data.

How Data Share differs from IDX or VOW

  • MLS Data Share lets MLS systems exchange listing data with each other so users can see more listings inside their professional MLS platform.

  • IDX is for public display of listings on agent or brokerage websites.

  • VOW is for consumer access to listings through a password-protected client portal.

In short:
Data share = MLS to MLS (for professional users).
IDX/VOW = MLS to public or clients (for consumer viewing).
